God,how I hate the Halifax bank,I,d love to close my account but I can't pay my overdraft off. They have closed all the local branches and now I have to drive mile's to pay in my wage check and how can we forget the cruel 'poor person tax'of £1 per day overdraft fee,not content with all that they keep tormenting with these awful ads. That one with them all singing 'I'll be there',like hell they will! Take it from me all the Halifax will do for you is give you a good hard kick when you're down

I agree with all the comments above. This ad... well in fact all of the GG ads are immensely annoying and counter-productive, and just makes me feel more inclined to go to one of their rivals instead. At least the meerkats have some charm even if they're just a marketing tool for another bland insurance company.

it is bizzarre why any company would spend millions in advertising to piss people off - I will never ever use their site even when they eventually ditch the nauseating, tacky style of advertising. Everybody i know hates the adverts and either mutes or turns over immediately, what company wants that?

Dear bloody Christ are adverts loud nowadays. And people talk about "loudness wars" in recorded music (which is still shocking; listen to any track from a CD pressed ten years ago with a similar track from one pressed within the last year or so, without changing the volume, and without any sneaky normalisation tricks (looking at you, iTunes)).
I'm very aware of the trick of compressing the audio in adverts to allow them to be blasted at an audience, but I had no idea that the ASA were measuring them with a PPM. WHAT'S THE BLOODY POINT IN THAT, I ask you? Not much, but then again, their guidelines don't say anything about prohibiting advertisements that are utter shite, so what can you do?

Idea: Adverts will be broadcast on all stations at a gain of -(2x)dB, where (x) is the level of "make-up" gain applied after compression. Nobody is compelled to turn down or mute the television during breaks anymore; all forms of cancer are inexplicably cured; world peace declared.

Thanks to No Stranger for highlighting the #1 problem with this advert. That guy makes me want to punch my own brains out. I hope he follows the creators of said advert around for the rest of the days, endlessly repeating a string of annoying-sounding synonyms for money that nobody sane uses anymore.

Hey, you know what? I "invented" a superfluous feature that already existed in another operating system, that has since been incorporated into Windoze 7. Ergo, Windoze 7 was all my idea.

Also, that handy feature that lets you hide internet searches etc. for porn, I mean, "anniversary presents", from your wife? Fucking hell, as if we need to encourage any more idiots who can't even work out how to use a browser to use the internet.

This kid is surely deserving of an extra-special clip around the ear, to be sure. If he really had to "do a poo at Paul's", I'd be content to let him go. And leave him there.

I, too, am perplexed by the presence of a second male in this advert. Perhaps they are both mentally retarded, and she is their carer? Or they are her children, and whoever cast the actors in this ad screwed up big time. "It won't open unless you blah blah buggery blah" sounds like the kind of mumbo-jumbo bullshit that a parent would tell a (-n idiot) child, anyway.
Again, maybe they are mentally deficient, to lack the cerebral fortitude to pour some rice into a pot of water and boil it.

Don't forget the punchline, either: "I'll need you to 'talk' to the dishwasher later". Now, I knew that advertising was full of 'comedians', but... (ba-dum-tish)
